"Take away my people, but leave my factories and soon grass will grow on the factory floors… Take away my factories, but leave my people and soon we will have new and better factories"
Andrew Carnegie Industrialist and philanthropist
The above quote drives home the old adage that "people are our most important asset" which we have heard a thousand times, and we also know that it is as much a platitude as it is a truism.
The new version of the old adage is the notion that "people are the only sustainable source of competitive advantage." In many instances, however, human resource is not truly regarded by many boards as a source of competitive advantage. Moreover, and more particularly in the Caribbean, many companies and persons alike, view and treat HR as merely an administrative function ( personnel administration) rather than a strategic resource. Also, there is not an open acknowledgement of Hr contribution to business success. This is primarily due to the lack of understanding of its function.
Joachim & Associates, through its full suite of services, including business consulting, intends to radically change this mindset and to guide all activities in an organization to have a line of sight to optimizing the value of HR and its contribution to business success. Moreover, this line of sight will be directed to strategic business objectives with these objectives being owned by employees at all levels.
If the aforementioned is to become a reality, HRM must start with a strategy, not a series of policies only. And while many businesses are successful without a formal HR strategy, maximizing potential and organizational value will only come from a combination of an effective business strategy and an effective HR strategy. It is precisely due to the aforesaid, that Joachim & Associates feel the acute need to combine both Hr and Business consulting in order to ensure that HR becomes an integral part of business development and that it is recognized for its contribution to business success.
Joachim & Associates recognizes that people strategies support and drive business growth, and that it is the individual and collective talents of people that create value and enhance organizational success. It is on this premise that I encourage you to challenge your thinking and benefit from the knowledge and experience of Joachim and Associates team of experts and to look more closely at how we can assist your organization by utilizing our full suite of services that are soundly anchored in reality.
